Good to hear from you, Trisha. There is so much going on in your life- I can't imagine the range of emotions. For us, we're just excited for you guys. I forget that there's a whole world you've created in Tyler that you're saying goodbye to. Your family loves you & we're rootin' for you!

We talked to Mitch last night and he sounded awesome. His fishing trip was huge fun for him. Many stories of alligators, pirahna, one big catch, and one that got away. He said he's going to sleep a lot today, and then they leave Friday night and will be home Saturday at about 11am. Out of all the things he has missed, pizza was at the top of the list. It will be fun to hear about all his adventures - we're ready!

Cary left for the US Open yesterday. Said he was with a group of guys that made him feel like he was in Jr. High again - translation: they couldn't wait to ditch Cary so they could go to the bars.

Last night I watched a great new reality show (no surprise). It's called "30 Days." As a disclaimer, I don't know what the future topics will be, but last night's topic was excellent. It's about the film documentary guy who wrote "Super Size Me" where he ate the McDonald's menu for 30 days and reported on the effects. Last night's show was about him & his fiance living on minimum wage in Columbus, Ohio for 30 days. They ended up not making it financially because they had 2 medical treatments that required them to go to the emergency room since they didn't have health care and the free clinic was full and only took cases during the day in which time they had to work to make the rent. They found a free donation center that gave them some dishes and a table & stuff. That made them cry because they realized there were still really good people in the world. The entire month they wondered how people with kids to feed could make it, and heaven forbid that one of those kids ever got sick.

It was a great, eye-opening show and I have no idea what to do about it - frustrated, again. We do have some friends that make minimum wage (do you know they haven't raised the min.wage in 7 years - does that seem weird to anyone?). It's hard to know how to help, but not enable. How to be sympathetic, but not take away their dignity. How to love them without judging them. I have been shocked at my own inability to love without judging - that judgment very subtly creeps in on me. Cary is actually a lot better at it than I am. On the surface it might not seem that way, but Cary has been so good to give this couple their dignity, financial help, and actually not judge their circumstances.

Great show - like I said, I have no idea what future episodes will be about, but this one is saved on my Tivo.

Have a great day, people!
Jill

30 Days sounds interesting. Do you think they'd like to follow us for the next 30 days as we move and get ready to start a church? Or maybe Randy for 30 days on the job? Sounds like an interesting show.

I've been recording 2 new "reality shows"--Fire Me, Please! and Scholar. I don't quite know what to think of either. Fire Me Please is actually pretty funny. The Scholar seems like way too much pressure. Neither is probably worth the energy of watching them!

I want to hear more about Mitch's trip. I know you're ready to see him!

By the way, thank you for the encouraging phone call Wed. night. It was great to hear from you--we really needed it that night! And we're excited about your pool and the possibility of some fun stuff in our yard, too! You are always so generous!

Love you,
Trisha
