BOUGHT!--and an Olivia update

What a day for becoming property owners! I just got official word that we closed on the country club property this morning. And again, God has made abundantly clear that He wants the glory in this process! Now begins the hard work of turning a country club into a place of ministry and worship! I'm actually getting excited thinking about it right now!

By the way, I'm very grateful for all of your prayers and encouragement. We are making slow progress with Olivia's eating habits. It's been much more emotionally challenging than I would have thought, as I'm sure most postpartum challenges are. I'm so thankful for Mom. She is amazingly strong and encouraging (especially for a woman who has gotten VERY little sleep over the last week). What a gift from the Lord!

Time for another feeding!

SOLD!

I counted the number of houses for sale in our neighborhood (just covering 2 1/2 streets) and there are 14, including ours, on the market. Most of them have been on the market for months. Our house just sold in late August by owner in 11 days for 97% of our asking price. We close on our Como house this morning and on this one at the end of September. We move on the 10th.

Is God trying to make sure we know this is Him or what? He is the only One who can get glory for any of this.

Blessings,
Anda

Still Struggling!

This is the way Trisha has been getting breastmilk into Olivia. She is still refusing to nurse most of the time. She finally spoke with a lactation specialist today who said she is just "being a little toot!" We have an appointment with her tomorrow. Posted by Picasa

the Lake and our house

Hey everyone. Just wondering if there is a "food plan" for the weekend. Let us know and we'll do whatever we need to do!
Please PRAY for our house to sell. A couple came and looked at it Saturday afternoon and they are supposedly going to put a contract on it this week-they're just waiting for some loan stuff to go through! Their realtor is a seasoned well-known realtor in the area and sounds very serious - I talked to her again today and she said we'd hear from her by Thursday at the latest (and wants me to call her if anyone else is seriously interested). You have no idea how miraculous it would be if we got a contract that quickly!! But with this whole move, I guess it wouldn't be that surprising. I'll bring the latest copy of Fort Worth Monthly magazine with me this weekend - it had an article about Lake Como and its history this month (the same month we purchased a beautiful lakeside cottage on Lake Come Drive!! Ha!). The closing paragraph of the article gave me chills. I love it when you know you're right in the middle of a move of God!

We love you guys - let us know what we need to bring.

Uncle Tod meets Olivia

Olivia's First Week

The pictures below are not in any particular order, but you may figure out that we are thoroughly enjoying our newest little girl.

The first week has definitely had its ups and downs. The best part is that we have a very healthy, very, very sweet baby girl. However, the first week has been rather stressful since we came home from the hospital. To summarize, Trisha's milk was a bit slow coming in, and she got the painful "thrush infection" that she usually gets when nursing after C-section, and then it passed to Olivia. She would not nurse--just screamed. Olivia went without a wet diaper or poopy diaper for 2-3 days. We finally realized it was probably the thrush thing again, but by then she was dehydrated. Trisha took her to the doctor, and she had lost more than a pound. Without improvement she would have had to go into the hospital. We have worked almost around the clock to get breast milk into her with a dropper and bottle. She is doing much better with appropriate diaper response. She and Trisha are both are taking medication for the problem. Slowly but surely she is beginning to attempt to nurse a little bit. Trisha is pumping to keep up her milk supply and has plenty for Olivia. It is just frustrating and complicated. We have to boil everything every time to avoid reinfection.

Except for the feeding times (which come often and seem to take a long time), Olivia is darling--sweet and responsive. She sleeps well and loves to just look around when she is awake. She especially loves to watch faces and be talked to. The kids love holding her because she is like a doll.

Trisha is recovering from the C-section, but that too has been painful of course. Tomorrow she gets her staples out which she says she dreads more than the C-section itself. Tomorrow we may also consult a lactation specialist who has already been very helpful. Hopefully this week will bring improvement in the feeding process; that is our prayer.

As you can tell from the pictures, this newborn has become the center of our world for awhile. It is nice to see the blog comments and pictures to know there is a world beyond celebrating poopy diapers and "latching on" successfully.

Love to you all, Grandma/mom

Grandma and Grandpa are thrilled with #22.

I still can hardly believe that we have been so richly blessed. I think we marvel to think that God can somehow make each one of our grandchildren so very, very special. Olivia has simply captured our hearts! Posted by Picasa

Olivia in the family cradle--home at last!

Olivia is resting comfortably in the cradle Uncle Jim (Grandma's brother) made for her Uncle Tod when he was born some 41+ years ago. It has rocked many babies through the years. Thank you, Uncle Jim. Posted by Picasa

Elijah adores his new sister!

One ever present question with a new baby is, "How will the youngest one react?" So far we have marveled at Elijah's reaction. He is so gentle and loves to just gently put his head next to her soft little head. He seems to just adore her. Posted by Picasa
