Hi Family!

Just wanted to check-in and share a little bit about how our summer is going. Mitch and Emily started off the summer by getting on a camp bus in Dallas and going to Kanakuk Kamp for two weeks. This is Mitch's fourth summer and Emily's third to go to Kanakuk.

I drove Ashley and Josh all the way to Branson that next week and dropped off Ashley at camp - she went for a week term. Josh and I hung out at the hotel and Cary flew in to meet us. After we picked up our kids from camp, we went straight to Kanakuk's family camp (okay, by now you know I'm a Kanakuk groupie - Cary calls it a cult).

We loved family camp - it was really great. We had LOTS of togetherness - one room, six people.....all the memories a family can stand! There were four other families there that had 13yr.olds so we felt right at home - a bonding time for all of the parents.

The camp itself is beautiful - a water park, great pool, minature golf, family excursions - we loved the atmosphere. The very best part of camp, however, was the staff. The couselors were so great - our kids are still talking about them and all the cool things that they did. We had a neat couple from California as our speakers for the week, and got to know some SUPER families - one of our favorites lives in Lamesa!

I was so proud of all of my kids at camp. I saw a lot of my old camp friends and I loved showing-off my crew. Mitch turns 13 next Thursday - can't believe it...yet I can! The kids and I will go to Pine Springs church camp at the end of July. Mitch goes to mission trip the second week of July. Summer goes by fast and it's a good thing so at some point the laundry WILL get caught up....just maybe not until September.

There are two girl tribes at Kanakuk each camp term-Kiowas and Kickapoos. The counselors chose Emily to be the Kiowa princess for her two week term at camp. Posted by Picasa

That "look" is a lot scarier with the face paint and headdress. Posted by Picasa

Ashley was ready to be a camper in barn #5! Posted by Picasa

This is right before the counselor flips you over and you have to do an underwater escape. Posted by Picasa

"Grandma took way too many pictures of our afternoon in the hot tub. She just seems to obsess about those things, you know. Oh well, they tell me someday I will think it is OK. Anyway, here is a report of our first afternoon adventure at Grandma's house." Posted by Picasa
