A Day in Athens
While most of the ship was disembarking, we relaxed and then made our way into Athens via taxi. We visited the incredible ancient sites--Parthenon, Agora, etc. For Alex, we went to the changing of the guard at the Parliament and took pictures of the soldiers. VERY impressive. We finished our time with a light lunch at a sidewalk cafe in the Placa area with "hundreds" of Greek speaking folks. Delicious! Tomorrow we will be in Turkey again.
We need to hear about the games Friday night and Saturday. Anyone know what happened?
We will miss worship and having our Sunday lunch with everyone tomorrow. Unless we can find our little Philippino guy who told us about the little crew worship, we will be in our room for worship tomorrow. Dad emailed a missionary in Istanbul, but that is a long way from where we will be. Turkey is quite Muslim, although they are very liberal Muslims. Our guide explained that everything is legal, including prostitution, in this very "progressive" Muslim country. However, they are in "Ramedon" (sp?), and so her bartender husband is on vacation while everyone fasts during the day and stops drinking during this time.
Love to you all, mom

Okay I have to make a statement before anyone reads this. Yes I am bragging about my son and yes it is obnoxious. I promised to keep Rita informed about football while she is gone and since we usually go out for dinner after the Patriots games I'm giving her the low down via the blog. That said....We got back to Midland this morning at 4:30 but really enjoyed our trip to Perryton...Mustangs won 35-21. It was a great game...back and forth...and Greg thought it may have been the best team we have played this season. The Mustangs looked GREAT!
Reagan had a sleepover birthday party last night (along with several other Patriots) and stayed up until 2 so I was a little worried about his noon game but he may have had his best game yet. We beat the Greenwood team 29-0. Reagan scored 2 touchdowns. One he ran in from about 10 yards out and the other was a 4th and 7 play on about the 20 and Luke passed to Reagan, he jumped to make a great catch, barely staying in bounds and then then dove into the endzone right by their safety. He also had several tackles. Tod is having a ball coaching and gets as excited as the boys when we do well. I think the Mustangs may have a bright future.
Anda I meant to tell you earlier but the Varsity is playing at Fort Worth Southwest Christian on November 3rd. We will be in town for the game and Bailey will be cheering. We will probably drive back that night but maybe a short visit at the game?
Sounds like a dream trip Dale and Rita...enjoy every minute.
Lee Ann,
Thanks for the report. Sorry we had to miss such an exciting game (the Patriots, of course). Two touchdowns and several tackles, Wow! As we visit with folks it is abundantly clear that we are very blessed parents and grandparents! Give Reagan a big atta boy from Grandpa and a big hug as well.
Great to hear that the Mustangs did well against a good team.
Anda and Randy, Rita and I are planning to try to make the Ft Worth game the 3rd and would love to stay with you if possible (I think). We do not have specific plans made yet but we return to Midland late on the 2nd and will want to be back in Midland by Sunday, at least. We may have to return Friday night if we have other games there we can get to.
Today we are back in Ephasus. Great place to do some reading in Acts during our worship time.
Love to all.
Dale
Wow, Reagan! Your Grandma is so proud of you. I am just imagining it all in my head and wishing I could have been there. Maybe Miss Karla has some video I could watch.
Yesterday Athens, today Ephesus again, tomorrow Corinth. It really does bring new meaning to Acts and the letters of Paul. I hope all of you have this opportunity some day.
You are all still asleep. We have already spent time in worship together, and now we will go into town for a bit.
Thank you, thank you Lee Ann. That is not bragging--just the bold facts of the situation. I love it!!! I am also proud of the Mustangs.
I'm loving hearing about your adventures!! What a wonderful trip (and I was thrilled to hear that you finally got your luggage).
We would love for you to stay with us when you're hear the weekend of the 3rd. Unfortunately, Randy and I have a rehearsal dinner Friday p.m. for a wedding he's in on Saturday, but our kids will be available - ha, ha! But you are so welcome to spend the end of your trip here at the Lake Como Cottage (ha!).
Love you!
Anda
If you can't brag about your kids on the family blog, then what's it for? We are your biggest fans, so we love to hear all of it! After all, we like saying, "Yes, that's my niece/nephew/brother/sister-in-law!" You all contribute to giving our family a good name!
Sounds like we need to plan to come to a Patriots game! I'd love to know your schedule for the next few weeks.
Trisha our last regular season game is this Saturday at 6:00. After that is the playoffs so I'm not sure when we will play. Reagan would love for you to come!
Hey, I'd be bragging if my kid scored those kind of touchdowns in 4th grade - WOW!
All of your boys have had great ( Hutton and Connor undefeated?) football seasons - that's awesome and very blogworthy!
