New Opportunities

Hi family,

I have some news I'd like to share. I debated waiting until this weekend, but decided the news could not wait.

I have been given an opportunity in Austin that will extend our stay for at least a couple of years. Last year, with the emotional tie to family and our desire to be back in the area, we had wanted (and I attempted) to find opportunities out that way. As much as we want that, and plan for it in the future, for now we will be staying in Austin.

On Friday I was offered, and have accepted, an accounting position with UT System, at the Institute for Public School Initiatives. This is basically a transfer within UT; here's their website: http://www.utsystem.edu/ipsi/. They assist in the development of educational programs to assist public schools and charters. I'm not certain if they work with any private schools (i.e. MCS), but I can certainly find out. I will primarily be auditing, and occasionally entering, reimbursements for grant-based expenditures, and doing other accounting tasks at a higher level than I have been doing previously.

I am excited to be taking this step forward. My office is at 7th and Colorado, halfway between the Capitol and the Frost Bank (tallest) building.
