Most houses on the islands were quite "junky". They take great pride in the natural beauty surrounding them, but don't seem to have much interest in their personal space. You can say they are "laid back" or you can say they are lazy. In the US this would be poverty; here it is just simplicity. It is such a different lifestyle and gives me a lot to ponder.
