Something new...termites
I love to check the blog, but have disappointed the last few days at the lack of something new. Then I decided I should "criticize by creating something beautiful" or at least by blogging!
I have a question for you... The house in Odessa has termites. The sellers are willing to have it treated, but I'm wondering if this is a dealbreaker. Are termites an impossible problem to get rid of? Any advice would be helpful. We have just a few days before our 10 day contingency period is up.
The other inspection turned up a few things, but they were fairly minor. We're asking them to fix some, but not all. We're far enough in that we'd be disappointed if we have to back out, but we don't want to get ourselves into an expensive mess.
Not much else going on--lots of people time and waiting for our Missions Committee to decide if they will or won't support us. A daily exercise in faith-building. This story is going to be a good one when it's all written, I think!

Trisha, my suggestion is that you talk with the exterminator to find out what he thinks regarding the probability of being able to get rid of termites by treating them. It may be that a treated house is less likely to have problems in the future than one that did not ever have a problem. Sorry you have to deal with it. Love you, Dad
Trisha, my impression has been that it is possible to get rid of them and just because you've had them doesn't always mean you'll have a problem. We had them at one point in our house in Tyler, but had no further problems once we had them treated. I think the bigger issue is whether or not there has been serious damage or not. But I'm with your Dad - ask the exterminator! Bless you guys!

We had termites in our house and the exterminator said that it was not a big deal to treat them. There are several options on how they do the treatement so make sure it is a full treatment. We had several areas that were severely damaged at our house and had no problem getting everything fixed. I think you guys will be fine. Let me know how it goes.
