Emily's Trip Winding Down
Well--it is really hard to find time to update. Right now Emily is sound asleep after another full day!! She has been a wonderful traveling companion and made us proud every step of the way. We finished Philadelphia at a wonderful aquarium that Emily found in a travel magazine and really wanted to see. We took the train to NYC to meet Marty and Terry. We have stayed very busy in NYC, but we have enjoyed every moment.
We started by just walking the streets of NYC for about an hour before Marty and Terry arrived. I think Emily's eyes almost popped out. She asked if there were always sirens; I told her that it was pretty normal. Tonight she acknowledged that she hardly even noticed them now. After a great meal at "John's Pizza," we saw Mary Poppins--fantastic!
Saturday we did Empire State Building, Ground Zero and Wall Street before making our way to the Museum of Natural History of "Night in the Museum" fame. We have learned that one of Emily's very favorite things is museums--every floor, every display. The grandparents were dragging a bit, but all counting the minutes til time for our special admission to the frog show. We were anticipating a movie where we could sit down. Wrong!! Another display of live, mainly poisonous frogs in little acquariums--nary a bench in the whole thing. A dinner at del Friscos--sitting down--and "Hairspray" finished off a very full day.
Today we went to church, "did" the Met Museum of Art, walked through Central Park, ate a hot dog at Stage Deli, went on a harbor lights cruise to the Statue of Liberty, and finished up at Carmines. Tomorrow is shopping before we come home on Tuesday.
It has been great to have Marty and Terry with us. Emily has been delightful as we continue to get to know this darling granddaughter in new and impressive ways. We definitely think she's a "keeper." She has declared that NYC is a nice place to visit, but Midland is looking mighty good right now.
We were soooo sorry we missed Tod's sermons today. We have gotten reports from everyone we can, and it just kills me that we weren't there. Everyone's comments make us know that we continue to be amazed and so proud of our son. We will get the online version as soon as possible.
Can't wait to see everyone. Love, Grandma

So glad you're enjoying Emily! I too was so sad to miss Tod's sermons today, but heard very good things, of course. Tod, I'm so proud of you and your family.
Love you all!
