Almost Home!
We are in the Paris airport where we have a 5 1/2 hour layover. (Our trip today will be about 24 hours from the time we got up until we arrive in Midland.) Business class tickets give us access to a nice lounge with free internet. It is very slow because of this European keyboard where someone stirred up all the letters, numbers and punctuation including substituting a "q" in the place of the "a"!!
We have had a WONDERFUL trip, but right now English, Mexican food, and all my kids, friends, and dog sound great! We have had quite an adventure with lots of pictures to enjoy and remember. Tod, we keep saying how much you would enjoy the culinary experience--absolutely incredible! It is true that no one understands gourmet cooking like the French. After eating LOTS of things I couldn't pronounce, much less understand we think we may be ready for some meatloaf. For the most part it was delicious!!! Last night we finished our last night in France with a "Symphony of Créme Bruleé." It was in a different category than we have ever tasted--melt in your mouth!!!
One of the highlights of our trip was meeting a young couple from NYC with 3 girls (ages 9, 7, and 5 months). They live in Geneva, Switzerland where she works for Procter & Gamble and he is Mr. Mom. By the time we left our chateau in St Remy we had exchanged adresses and vowed to stay in touch. For some reason (maybe a Rush Limbaugh addict from NYC--strong Catholics), we just fell in love with them and spent hours every night at dinner talking, We invited them to come meet us at the lake sometime to play with our grandkids. I would love for all of you to meet them, This weekend he is flying to NYC to run in the NYC marathon. Isabella would love Annie, Ashley and Mckenna (and Reagan), and Olivia would love Abby Claire. By the time they might make their way to Lake Brownwood maybe our Olivia and their Grace would be a match. Who knows? We sure would love to see them again and for them to know our family.
We can't wait to see everyone!!! I am needing several "fixes"--my kids/grandkids, my computer, American/Mexican food, English, and football, to name a few.
See you all very soon. Love and blessings, mom
P.S; Even my aol site and the blog site are all in French. They definitely don't believe in accomodating English around here! Do I sound like I am going into culture shock? ;)

Mom`s comments about being ready to be home are right on. The trip has been wonderful and I have especially enjoyed our time in France, in spite of the fact that they definitely expect visitors to adapt rather than acommodate us. The `first class`lounge sure makes a long layover in Paris more bearable. Free internet access, snacks (all French style, but tasty), great places to read (USA Today and other English newspapers), even a place to get a massage. None of that, however, can match the appeal of Rosas or Cracker Barrel at the moment, especially in the company of family. Look forward to seeing all of you soon. Love, Dad
