UPdate on RB
Hey everyone,
I've been put in charge of giving y'all the latest on the Antioch trip! Today RB had a business meeting and one of the vice-presidents of Methodist Hospitals found out that RB was going to Sri Lanka. NBC news had asked the vp yesterday if they had anyone going and he didn't know about Randy; so he called the reporters back today and Randy is scheduled for an interview around noon tomorrow. He'll probably be on the 6 o'clock news here in DFW tomorrow p.m.!
But it gets even better.
He called Antioch to make sure it was okay that he interviewed. Jimmy Siebert called him back about an hour later and encouraged/coached him about the tv interview and then told him that he was in fact going to Sumatra and not Sri Lanka. Just last night Randy was saying at dinner that he wished he was going to Indonesia because he wanted to be in the place of greatest need. Well, God was listening. They will let few people in to Sumatra, but they are welcoming medical help. So now he is going to Banda Ache or Medan with a team of all medical people with the exception of Heather Mercer who is leading his group! He has been on the phone with Jamey, Jimmy, and Heather today, feels like he's a wild-at-heart man on a mission, and is like a little kid in a giant candy store! He's cracking me up. I can think of very few things that would get him as excited as this whole adventure. I don't mean to sound like this is not a sober time - obviously, it is. And he's preparing to see/experience things that are hard. But God is moving and he's excited to be able to join in.
Please continue to pray for him - for wisdom, discernment, health, etc. And pray for us here at home!! There is grace to be a single parent for a couple of weeks, but the grace will come from the Spirit so cry out to Jesus for us! We're also waiting on news about the JPS job - it will determine our next steps for the next 6 months (moving, etc).
We are so thankful for the ways in which the Lord moves - we're entering another season of great change that requires desperate dependence on the Lord. This trip will undoubtedly be one that alters our view of Jesus, people, and the future. Praise God that walking with Him is never "dull, boring, or a bummer" (a Jamey quote).
I love you all and I'm super, super thankful to be a part of this family. Thanks for a wonderful Christmas.

Anda-that is just awesome - God is awesome, and I can tell He's moving in big ways in BOTH of your lives. Anxious to hear more - much love & many prayers! Jill
That is wonderful! I had another person bring me a check for $100 for meds, so I will be sending $300 total from the people in my office.
Thanks to everyone for your help. I love you guys.
