We were ready to hike in. They had instructed us thoroughly on how to handle any bears we might meet. The ranger said he saw one on the trail that morning. There was bear "poop" all along the way--evidence of bears nearby. McKenna really wanted to see one on the trail. I couldn't decide if I wanted to see one or if I was relieved we didn't.
