Randy found a car! Yahoo!
The search is finally over! RB has been looking now for over a week and it's pretty much been all he's thought about, etc. He threw away a huge stack of paper (all his research) this a.m. The "winner" is a 2003 Toyota Matrix with about 55,000 miles on it. I really like it and I'm about ready to stuff a couple of kids in the hatchback and drive it myself!
We missed everyone last weekend. Our 4th celebration yesterday was interesting. We began the day with an examination of the dead bunny at the end of our driveway that had been hit by a car. That evening, RB decided to pick it up and dispose of it in our trash can, but right before he did it the boys discovered that this poor rabbit was pregnant. So here's my whole family in our street watching daddy with his surgical glove on removing 3 stillborn bunnies from their mama...he thought they should get to see what they looked like. I think his mom must be Rita Brown - ha!
We went to Como after our neighborhood parade for their parade and celebration. It was humbling and one of the most unusual experiences we've ever had. Besides the couple of politicians that were campaigning for governor, we were the only white people in a crowd of probably 1000 people! (And it's not like there are just 2 or 3 of us - we draw a few stares WHEREVER we are)! We just walked around, got our free hotdogs, and dealt with people looking at us like we were aliens. There were SO many cops (which is a good thing - there were obviously many gang members present. RB decided next time he would avoid wearing his red t-shirt). It was funny. People from everywhere come to this event every year - all over Fort Worth and many from Dallas. Como is not an insignificant area. This Op Camp is a big deal!
Anyway, Randy spent the whole afternoon researching and looking for cars and at 8:00 last night we finally bought one! He thinks we got a good deal. At his point, I don't even care - I'm just glad he can say goodbye to the bus (he's been walking about 10 minutes to catch the city bus for the last week)! We are thanking God for His provision and faithfulness!
Bless you guys! We can't wait to see you again!
